Memorial Day Ceremony
Monday, Memorial Day
It is our desire at the Woodring Wall of Honor to be civilian ambassadors for our armed services. We are striving today to continue the strong support that Enid shows its military servicemembers.
Enid, Oklahoma leads the charge to honor these honorable men and women who defend our nation. The freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today were bought and paid for with their devotion to duty and their sacrifices. They must not be forgotten.
This year we are celebrating 15 years of service to our community veterans.
Memorial Day 2015 is Monday, May 24
The Woodring Wall of Honor will host Memorial Day Services, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, honoring our Oklahoma Fallen Soldiers and Veterans. 178 Oklahoma soldiers have been honored since 2000.
We continue to remember. We are a grateful nation recognizing their family's sacrifices ensuring the freedoms that we Oklahomans enjoy.
The Blue Star Mothers and the Yes We Can Civitan Club are co-organizers of the event. Let us work together to show why we honor our military: not because of the economic impact it has in our state but because these men and women still sacrifice their lives for our freedoms daily. Let's show the rest of this nation how Oklahoma treats its heroes.
Additional Memorial Weekend Events
As part of our Memorial Day weekend events, on Saturday, May 23, 2015, the Red Dirt Run of Honor, a 5K/Half Marathon Run, will be held in honor of our Oklahoma Fallen Heroes and servicemen and women on the Woodring Wall of Honor. Runners may compete in the name of their hero to bring awareness to our theme to "NEVER FORGET".
This is an annual event in remembrance of the sacrifices of our military. Many of the Gold Star Families will be represented.
Dog tags and a certificate of honor will be presented to all entries. Runners may designate the veteran they are running for or will be assigned a fallen hero or veterans to remember their sacrifices. Personalized choices must be pre-registered.
