The Park History

The Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park is a living memorial to veterans past and present. The Living Walls are dedicated to honoring and remembering our military heroes.

It only takes a contribution of $50 to place a name on the living walls of honor. The price is minimal... the gesture is priceless.... It is for our veterans, active duty, retired, MIA  or for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and were killed in action. As long as they have a tie to Oklahoma, they are eligible. All generations of service in one family can be placed together on the wall. No costs to Gold Star Families.

 The Vietnam Veterans Memorial stands as a symbol of America's honor and recognition of the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War. Inscribed on the black granite walls are the names of more than 58,000 men and women who gave their lives or remain missing. Yet the Memorial itself is dedicated to honor the "courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty and country" of all who answered the call to serve during the longest war in U.S. history.   We are privileged to have the opportunity to have a replica of this wall in our community.

On May 29, 2017 we dedicated a new welcome/education center adjacent to the living walls and the Vietnam Memorial Wall.  It hosts a welcome center, reception area, media center, museum and library to enable visitors to have a better understanding of the profound impact that war had on their family members, communities, and the nation.   The Educational Center has been home to day camps, educational oral history testimonies, docent tours, special honor ceremonies, and even a location for a feature film.  The museum is dedicated to all branches of service/wars.
