On Memorial Day Ceremonies, each year, It is our desire, at the Woodring Wall of Honor, to be civilian ambassadors for our armed services. We are striving today to continue the strong support that Enid shows its military servicemembers.
Enid, Oklahoma leads the charge to honor these honorable men and women who defend our nation. The freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today were bought and paid for with their devotion to duty and their sacrifices. They must not be forgotten.
The services are held annually on Monday, each Memorial Day at 10 am. A free meal for veterans and their families follow the services in the City of Enid hanger at Woodring Regional Airport.
The Woodring Wall of Honor will host Memorial Day Services, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, honoring our Oklahoma Fallen Soldiers and Veterans. More than 200 Oklahoma servicemen have been honored since 2000.
We continue to remember. We are a grateful nation recognizing their family's sacrifices ensuring the freedoms that we Oklahomans enjoy.
While your Memorial Day might be packed with family fun and summer activities, we also believe it's important to pause the festivities in remembrance of the real meaning and history of Memorial Day. We pause to honor the military personnel who've sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. We are grateful for their courage and service.
This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn't come home. This is not Veterans Day, it's not a celebration, rather it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom.
What's in a name? We believe they leave a legacy, an inheritance of a great example. More than 4000 names are on our living walls. If those walls could talk, you would hear thousands of stories of bravery, comradery, courage and honor. For that, we should give thanks publicly. We vow to remember, our oath to the families of the fallen to never forget. Freedom isn't free. To quote the words of Ronald Reagan, "...And if words cannot repay the debt we owe these men, surely with our actions we must strive to keep faith with them and with the vision that led them to battle and to final sacrifice."
NEVER FORGET! These men and women fought for something important to them, your freedom. We must never let them die for nothing. So this veterans park is a daily reminder to honor and thank our armed forces, veterans and their families.
